The Tambone Hawk is one of Greg's new for 2025 edged tool designs that traces it's lineage back to the 2013 Bone Hawk (the original hand axe created at the request of highly specialized Tier 1 personnel seeking a lighter, stronger, and more effective CQB capable hatchet). That early tool became the first tomahawk effectively tailored to modern martial techniques, bushcraft survival, dynamic entry, and multi-use CQB peripheral tasks over a decade ago... but now, eight generations later, we bring you the fully re-designed Tambone Hawk!

Superior Design for both Combat and Utility

The Tambone Hawk is the next successor to the first full-tang, dual-handle tomahawk designed for CQB in line with modern martial edged tool techniques. Its features include:

  • Ergonomic dual handle design: Ensures a strong choke grip for more effective CQB use, and more control with bushcraft tasks.
  • Unsharpened Beard: For hooking, pulling, and trapping movements... without being dangerous to the user.
  • Pry-Bar Pommel: Useful for trapping techniques and small joint manipulation as well as breaching and dynamic entry.
  • Tanto Rear Spike: Proper design angles implemented for maximum penetration and quick removal.

Unmatched Strength and Durability

Continuing it's legacy heritage of the world's strongest and sharpest tomahawks, it's made from 3/8" thick, triple-hardened 4140 chromoly steel... the Tambone Hawk is virtually unbreakable. The 20 Rockwell shaft absorbs impact, reducing shock and hand injuries, while contact surfaces in the 55+ Rockwell range resist chipping or breaking under hard use.

Compact and Mission-Ready

Designed for modular carry, every Tambone Hawk comes standard with two thermoplastic sheaths (one on each end). The primary sheath features a paracord secondary retention and quick-release buckle, making it "jumpable" for aircraft insertions. The small heel sheath is designed to cover the pry bar on the other end in order to protect sensitive equipment that might be transported alongside the tool, or for when the tool is carried in a backpack for example. Each sheath also includes a woven 550 cord shoulder sling and the necessary (removable) attachments. Multiple eyelets allow for further customization, while the sheath enables less-lethal defense with quick access to escalation of force. Handmade leather drop-leg sheath options are also available (sold separately).

Handle Variants

  • Modern Warrior: Bone Tactical Jute Micarta handle scales provide a secure grip, lightweight durability, and low visibility with earth-tone finishes all in one of the toughest handle materials available.
  • Resolute Warrior: Exotic old growth Granadillo hardwood handles (sourced by Greg while on expedition in remote jungle rainforests), offer unparalleled beauty and toughness, double secured with both epoxy and brass rivets.

Cutting, Breaching, and Bushcraft Excellence

The Tambone Hawk’s rear spike destroys metal, glass, concrete, and kevlar... its sharp face handles precision cutting and chopping with ease. The curved blade excels in bushcraft tasks like splitting and whittling. Its pry-bar pommel and rear spike further enhance breaching capabilities.

Heirloom Quality and Tactical Performance

Each Tambone Hawk balances artistry with rugged functionality. Expert craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout make each tool a truly unique heirloom quality work of art. Still, they are deigned to be used, features such as the polymer resin coating for rust resistance and reduced friction ensure a lifetime of hard use survivability (even in extreme conditions). Designed for durability and modularity, these handcrafted tomahawks are continually refined through field feedback via elite operators, ensuring they remain the most effective tools available.

Every Tambone Hawk is a unique, hand-finished piece capable of hard use yet worthy of being passed down as a treasured heirloom.
